Leopard Ship Date: October 26, 2007

It’s official. Mac OS X 10.5 is shipping on October 26th. You can pre-order now at the Apple Education Store, but it will cost you $116. You read that correctly. At least for now, Apple isn’t giving education customers much of a discount. The standard price is $129, so students will save a whopping $13 on Leopard.

Back in the day, Apple gave education users a heftier discount. Will I buy Leopard anyway? Yes. Am I disappointed that the education price won’t be the old reliable $69? Yes.

For a bit more about Leopard, see my earlier Leopard for Law Students post.

Added at 1pm PDT: It’s actually cheaper to join the Apple Developer Connection as a student, for $99. As soeren says, you get some nifty stuff in addition to Leopard, and at a better price.
